This is a true story of a sad period in the history of Aberdeen, when between the years 1740-1744, a number of merchants, magistrates and shipmasters organised the abduction of local children in order to sell them as slaves in the American plantations. Peter Williamson was one who suffered such a fate when he was ten years old. He not only lived to tell the tale, but after an eventful few years which he was again captured, this time by North American Indians, he returned to his home town.

This is a true story of a sad period in the history of Aberdeen, when, between the years 1740-1744, a number of merchants, magistrates and shipmasters organised the abduction of local children in order to sell tham as slaves in the American plantations. Peter Williamson was one who suffered such a fate when he was ten years old. He not only lived to tell the tale, but after an eventful few years during which he was again captured, this time by north American Indians, he returned to his home town. His amazing experiences do not end there, however, because his efforts to support himself by publishing a book of his adventures did not please the Aberdeen Magistrates, who had him publicly branded a liar and banished from the town. Against all the odds, Peter went on to sue them, and in so doing brought out the facts of this trade and the misery it caused to the children and their helpless parents.
