An embarrassing slip in the Hyde Park mud leads Lily and Rose Banister into the path of Phillip Montgomery, a British Embassy diplomat. Mesmerised by Lily's beauty, he invites her to accompany him to the Paris Exhibition, while Rose, who can't help but feel envious, is asked to chaperone the trip. Arriving in Paris, the trio happen upon Phillip's old adversary Gordon Pomfret, who decides to join their group, obviously vying for Lily's attention.
