Tod Bailey rides out of Dodge City a happy man. He has sold his herd, and the only job remaining before collecting his payment is to deliver the beef to the buyer's corrals. But these happy stakes will not last for long: tragedy strikes before he reaches his camp and Bailey is greeted with utter chaos on his arrival; his herd is stolen by rustlers, Packy Lambert is dead, and his young brother is dying with a bullet in his chest. As he sets out to locate the rustlers and to avenge his brother, Bailey realises he is caught up in a much larger far-reaching plot.
