Lynching at Prospect Falls

Matthews, Jack (Western fiction writer)2017
Large Print
When 19-year-old Joey Crane disappears on his way to stay with his uncle, town marshal Matt Walker, cavalry scout, Bob Crane, is called in to find him. With all clues pointing to the town of Prospect Falls - owned and controlled by wealthy rancher, H.J. Copeland - it is likely that young Crane has fallen into some bad business. Copeland's Bar C cattle are being rustled on a regular basis by a gang led by his own foreman, and any travellers caught straying onto the land are being lynched to divert attention from the rustling. Faced with a wall of silence, Joey's search party is about to move on when his saddle is spotted for sale in the general store. Bob Crane and Matt Walker must work quickly to recover their charge, before they are discovered searching for someone whom nobody wants them to find.
