All which is truth : nineteenth century murders in Forfarshire

Foster, Rosemary2016
Books, Manuscripts
This book describes eighteen murder cases that went to trial in Forfarshire (Angus), Scotland in the nineteenth century. The primary research for the book involved examining thousands of pages of precognitions (eye witness statements) which are held in the National Archives of Scotland in Edinburgh. "All which is truth" or "All which he (or she) declares to be the truth" appears at the bottom of each witness statement. The witness accounts provide a level of detail that bring these stories to life and, in each case, readers are to able form their own opinions about what happened and the justice of the verdict.
