Animated family comedy. Two million years ago in the Savannah Desert, the monkey king's newborn twins are separated at birth with the eldest son, Edward (voice of Ben Bishop), deemed too small to take up the throne and sent away to be raised in secret. But the outcast heir soon realises he's more than an average ape when he discovers miraculous new tools for living and sets out to share them with the tribe that rejected him, but will they accept him back in?
